The top reasons why Kung Fu is excellent for children specifically

1. Self-Confidence. It doesn’t happen overnight, but the combination of physical and mental strengthening in Kung Fu can boost a Little Dragon’s self-confidence
immensely. To learn and improve a new skill is a source of confidence for every person; Kung Fu gifts Little Dragons with a healthy outlet that can benefit them later in life.

2. Discipline. Whether with Sifu, sparring partners, parents, or by themselves, Kung Fu values discipline and obedience in its students every step of the way. Like other forms of
martial arts, discipline is essential for growth. Only through immense concentration, dedication, and respect can a challenge be overcome.

3. Concentration. Each movement and technique in Kung Fu develops immense concentration; if a Little Dragon learns this at a young age, it will give them valuable skills to conquer difficult experiences in the future.

4. Respect. Like discipline, Kung Fu teaches Little Dragon’s to respect themselves, each other, their instructors, and the ancient art of Kung Fu.

5. Physical Fitness. Physical activity is incredible for Little Dragon’s—especially for their overactive minds. Kung Fu creates a powerful body, as well as a powerful mind, and it promotes taking physical activity seriously. Their health will significantly improve than if they were sitting around playing video games all day.

6. Physical Coordination. Core strength, balance, and exercising of each joint and muscle set up a young body for future athletics and overall better health.

7. Calming. There is an incredible amount of unreleased energy pent up in Little Dragon’s—especially with remote learning in place. The power and continuous activity required in Kung Fu allows Little Dragon’s to release that energy and to focus
easier. This teaches them to find an escape for their energy.

8. Comradery. There is a strong bond formed between fellow students; it is rooted in tradition and overcoming challenges together.

9. Personal Security. The steady rising of bullying amongst children is terrifying for any parent. Kung Fu assures families, and Little Dragon’s themselves, that they can learn to handle themselves. However, a core value of Kung Fu drills into students that words are never ground to fight.

10. FUN. First and foremost, Kung Fu should be fun for your Little Dragon! A fun, after school activity like Kung Fu, can seriously improve a child’s mental health. Most young people who have participated in Kung Fu classes carry with them the lessons they learn in the dojo well into adulthood. The ancient practice instills integrity, and diligence in them – something that kids who don’t participate in Kung Fu might severely lack.
